The Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a restriction preventing parties involved in the case between suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, along with three others, from speaking to the media about the matter. The ruling was delivered on Friday by Justice Binta Fatima Nyako.
The decision came after a complaint was raised by Akpabio’s lawyer, Kehinde Ogunwumiju (SAN). He informed the court that Akpoti-Uduaghan had been making public statements regarding the ongoing case by appearing on multiple television programs. Ogunwumiju argued that such actions could influence public opinion and potentially affect the court proceedings.
In response, Justice Nyako ruled that no party involved in the case, including their legal representatives, should give interviews to the press about any issue related to the lawsuit. She further instructed that there should be no online broadcasts or social media streaming of the court proceedings.
