JUST IN: I Did Not Disrupt Air Peace Flight Operations – Oshiomhole

Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North, has spoken out about a recent incident involving Air Peace at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos, denying that he disrupted the airline’s flight operations.

The former governor clarified that he did not interfere with the airline’s operations as claimed in a recent statement by Air Peace. Instead, he said he took a stand on behalf of several passengers who were allegedly being mistreated by the airline’s sudden change in check-in procedures.

According to Oshiomhole, the airline staff told passengers—including himself—that boarding had closed, only for him to observe that some passengers were still being allowed onto the flight after reportedly paying extra fees.

He said: “For a flight ticket of N149,600, those declared late were being charged an extra N109,900 to be moved to another flight scheduled for 8:30am. This is not acceptable.”

Oshiomhole noted that the airline labeled several passengers as late arrivals without any prior notice of changes to the check-in deadline. He said he stepped in to question the procedure after noticing that while many were turned away, some were secretly allowed on board after paying more.

The senator also revealed that an Air Peace official approached him personally and offered him special access to board the flight through the back entrance due to his status, but he declined.

“I refused to be ‘sorted’ by an Air Peace manager who came to meet me at the counter and allowed to board through the backdoor just because I am a Senator,” he said.
