The crisis within the Labour Party has taken a new turn as a fresh wave of internal disagreements shakes the political group.
On Wednesday, the National Caretaker Committee of the party, under the leadership of Senator Nenadi Usman, addressed reporters in Abuja and gave Julius Abure, the embattled national chairman, 24 hours to respond to several serious accusations or face disciplinary action.
At the briefing, Senator Usman firmly stated that Abure is no longer recognized as the rightful leader of the party, pointing to a recent Supreme Court ruling as the legal basis for her claim. She called him an “impostor” and insisted that the court’s decision had effectively ended his time as chairman.
“Abure should stop attacking the Labour Party and its leaders,” Usman said. She further noted that he must now face the corruption and forgery allegations made against him, rather than continue to act as the head of the party.
