Nigeria’s Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has chosen to maintain the same starting lineup for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe. The match is set to take place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo at 4 PM.
Chelle, who recently took charge of the team, has decided not to make any changes to the squad that secured a victory over Rwanda in their last match. The decision shows his confidence in the players who delivered a strong performance in that game.
Leading Nigeria’s attack once again is Victor Osimhen, who was the star of the previous match with two goals. The Napoli striker will be aiming to continue his impressive form alongside Ademola Lookman, who also played a key role in the win against Rwanda.
Stanley Nwabali retains his position as the team’s goalkeeper. In defense, Ola Aina, William Troost-Ekong, Calvin Bassey, and Bright Osayi-Samuel will continue to provide support at the back.
In midfield, Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi will once again take charge of controlling play. The wings will be occupied by Samuel Chukwueze and Moses Simon, who will be looking to create scoring opportunities for the attackers.
The full lineup for the match against Zimbabwe is as follows:
Goalkeeper: Stanley Nwabali
Defenders: Ola Aina, William Troost-Ekong, Calvin Bassey, Bright Osayi-Samuel
Midfielders: Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi
Forwards: Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, Ademola Lookman, Victor Osimhen
With this lineup, Chelle hopes to secure another win and keep Nigeria’s World Cup qualification hopes alive.
