JUST IN: Oyo State Govt Postpones Teachers’ Recruitment Interview to Honor Isese Day

The Oyo State government has announced a new date for the ongoing teachers’ recruitment interviews, initially scheduled for August 20, 2024, due to the observance of Isese Day, an important cultural holiday in the state.

The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) made this decision to avoid scheduling conflicts with the Isese Festival, which celebrates the rich Yoruba traditions and heritage.

Isese Day, observed annually on August 20, is a day of great significance for many in Oyo State, especially for those who follow the Yoruba traditional religion. The festival emphasizes the preservation of Yoruba culture, making it a pivotal event in the state’s cultural calendar.

Understanding the importance of this day, the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, decided to reschedule the interviews to ensure that no candidate misses out on the opportunity due to the public holiday.

The interview, originally set for August 20, will now take place on Monday, August 26, 2024. This adjustment specifically affects candidates from eight local government areas: Saki West, Saki East, Irepo, Oriire, Olorunsogo, Orelope, Ogbomoso North, and Ogbomoso South.

Dr. Adeniran, in an official statement released on Tuesday, emphasized the board’s commitment to respecting cultural practices while maintaining the integrity of the recruitment process.

“In light of this observation, the affected LGAs whose interviews were originally slated for Tuesday, August 20, 2024, have been rescheduled to Monday, August 26, 2024,” he stated. The decision has been widely praised by stakeholders who commend the board’s sensitivity and responsiveness.

The government has urged all candidates to adhere strictly to the revised schedule. The updated interview dates for other local government areas remain as previously announced, with the interviews commencing from August 14, 2024, through to the new date of August 26, 2024.
