JUST IN: Peter Obi Meets Bauchi Governor Behind Closed Doors

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election and former governor of Anambra State, visited Bauchi State on Thursday for a private meeting with Governor Bala Mohammed.

The meeting, which took place at the Government House in Bauchi, was held behind closed doors, leaving many speculating about its purpose. No official statement has been released regarding the agenda, but political observers believe it could be related to discussions on the 2027 presidential election.

Governor Bala Mohammed, who serves as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, is expected to address journalists alongside Obi after the meeting. However, details of their discussions remain undisclosed at this time.

The 2023 presidential election saw Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerge as the winner, securing 8,794,726 votes and winning in 12 states. His closest rival, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, came second with 6,984,520 votes.

Peter Obi, despite being a first-time presidential candidate, finished third with 6,101,533 votes. His campaign gained massive support, especially among young Nigerians, and he managed to win in 11 states, including Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Since the election, discussions about a possible coalition among opposition parties have gained traction. Atiku, Obi, and other key political figures, including former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, have been holding meetings, sparking speculations about a united front against the APC in the next election cycle.
