The Ogun State Police Command has issued a warrant for the arrest of popular singer Habeeb Olalomi, known as Portable, following his involvement in a violent attack on government officials.
The incident took place on February 5, 2025, at around 10:00 a.m. when three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development were carrying out their duties in Ota.
The officials—TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—were part of an enforcement team conducting an exercise at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota, when they encountered an elderly man, later identified as Portable’s father, at a property linked to the singer.
The officials had introduced themselves and requested to see the building’s approved plan. In response, Portable’s father informed them that the singer was not available.
However, shortly after, Portable arrived at the scene, reportedly armed with a firearm and accompanied by nine armed individuals. The group then attacked the unarmed officials, causing them various injuries. Despite the assault, the officials were able to escape and report the incident to the Ota Area Command.
The police escalated the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, where further actions are being pursued. While nine individuals associated with Portable were arrested, the singer managed to flee and has not been seen since the attack.
According to the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, several formal invitations were sent to Portable, requesting his appearance at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters, but the singer failed to respond to them. As a result, the police obtained a court order declaring him wanted.
In the statement, Odutola warned that anyone who aids or harbors Portable would face legal consequences. Authorities are urging the public to provide any information that could assist in the singer’s capture.
This case comes on the heels of the arraignment of nine individuals who were involved in the assault. The defendants—ranging in age from 19 to 28—were charged with felony, assault, unlawful restriction, possession of weapons, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. They pleaded not guilty to the charges.
During the court hearing, Police prosecutor Sunday Ekong outlined how Portable and his associates had assaulted and obstructed the officials while they were carrying out their lawful duties. The case is set to continue in court, with the next hearing scheduled for March 17, 2025. Meanwhile, Portable remains on the run as the police intensify their efforts to locate him.
