Controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola, poplarly known as Portable, has been remanded in the Oke Kura Correctional Centre in Ilorin, over his inability to meet bail conditions imposed by an Upper Area Court in Kwara state.
The Nigerian music artist was taken into custody following his court appearance over a defamation case. The case was brought against him by well-known Fuji musician Akorede Saheed, popularly called Saheed Osupa.
The court session, which took place earlier in the day, ended with the judge granting Portable bail. However, the bail came with strict conditions. He was expected to pay a sum of N1 million and provide two sureties with the same amount.
According to court officials, the sureties must also meet specific requirements, making it difficult for Portable to fulfill the bail terms immediately.
Due to his inability to meet these conditions, the court ordered that he be kept in the Oke Kura prison until further notice or until he can satisfy the terms.
