President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Nwakuche Sylvester Ndidi as the Acting Controller-General (CG) of the Nigerian Correctional Service. This appointment comes as Haliru Nababa, the outgoing Controller-General, completes his tenure. Nababa had served in the role since his appointment by former President Muhammadu Buhari on February 18, 2021.
The news was made public on Friday in a statement by Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Board. Ahmed confirmed that Ndidi’s tenure would officially commence on December 15, 2024.
“The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has graciously approved the appointment of Nwakuche Sylvester Ndidi as Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service following the expiration of the tenure of Haliru Nababa. His appointment takes effect from December 15, 2024,” Ahmed stated.
Nwakuche Ndidi, born on November 26, 1966, is from Oguta in Imo State. Before this elevation, he held the position of Deputy Controller-General overseeing the Training and Staff Development Directorate. Ndidi is also a distinguished fellow of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies and holds the Member of the Federal Republic (MFR) national honor.
