JUST IN: Senator Natasha Disrupts Senate Plenary Over Seat Change

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, caused a disruption during a Senate plenary session on Thursday after discovering that her seat had been changed without her consent.

The session, presided over by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, was progressing as planned until Chief Whip Senator Mohammed Ali Monguno raised a point of order. Monguno noted that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan was not seated in her usual position, bringing the matter to the Senate President’s attention.

Before Monguno could conclude his statement, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan reacted strongly, engaging in a heated verbal exchange. The situation quickly escalated, drawing the attention of security officials. The Sergeant-at-Arms immediately stepped in, surrounding the senator in an attempt to escort her out of the chamber.

Despite the intervention, the female lawmaker remained firm in her stance, demanding an explanation for the sudden change in her seating arrangement. She repeatedly asked, “reasons why her seat was changed without her consent.”

Efforts by Senate President Akpabio to restore order initially had little effect as tensions remained high. In response to the chaos, the public address system was shut down to control the situation. Eventually, after several minutes of confusion, calm was restored, and the plenary session continued.
