President Bola Tinubu has appointed four new members to the Governing Council of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB). The appointments aim to fill vacant positions and enhance the board’s effectiveness in promoting local content in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, confirmed the appointments. He noted that the decision is part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to strengthen institutions responsible for the development of Nigeria’s energy sector.
The newly appointed members include Mr. Olusegun Omosehin, representing the National Insurance Commission, and Engr. Wole Ogunsanya, who is associated with the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria. In addition, Tinubu approved the nomination of Sam Onyechi as the representative of the Nigerian Content Consultative Forum, while Barrister Owei Oyanbo will serve as a representative from the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.
The NCDMB plays a crucial role in ensuring that Nigerian businesses and professionals have greater participation in the country’s oil and gas industry. It oversees policies that encourage the use of local manpower, materials, and services in the sector. By appointing these new members, the federal government seeks to improve the board’s capacity to regulate and implement local content initiatives effectively.
