Just In: Wanted Cult Leader Arrested by Police in Ogun State

The Ogun State Police Command apprehended a notorious cult leader who has long been on their wanted list. The suspect, 35-year-old Olamilekan Akojede, was arrested by police operatives in Oja Odan, Yewa-North Local Government Area of Ogun State at approximately 2:30 pm.

Olamilekan Akojede, identified as the leader of the Alora cult group, had been terrorizing the local community for a considerable amount of time. According to the police, his arrest comes after an extensive investigation and surveillance. The arrest has been hailed as a significant victory in the state’s ongoing battle against cultism and criminal activities.

The police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest in a statement released on her X handle. She mentioned that Akojede had been causing panic and unrest in the community, leading to his addition to the police’s watch list.

“The DPO Oja Odan has apprehended an Alora confraternity No. 1. One Olamilekan Akojede, a 35-year-old who has terrorized Oja Odan was picked up at about 1430hrs today and will be transferred to SCID for discreet investigation,” Odutola stated.

In her statement, Odutola also urged other cult members to reconsider their choices and take advantage of the state’s amnesty program. She emphasized the importance of abandoning violent lifestyles for the benefit of society and their families. “They should take a leaf from this person who has been apprehended, to accept the amnesty program and be better sons to their families,” she said.

Ogun State has recently seen a resurgence of cult-related violence, resulting in the loss of several lives over the past week. However, the arrest of Akojede signals the police command’s determination to crack down on cultist activities and restore peace to affected areas. The suspect will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
