Juventus Football Club has officially parted ways with head coach Thiago Motta after a disappointing run of results. The club announced the decision on Sunday, thanking Motta and his coaching staff for their efforts during their time in charge.
In an official statement, Juventus noted, “The club would like to thank Thiago Motta and all of his staff for their professionalism and for the work they have carried out in recent months with passion and dedication. The club wishes them the best of luck for the future.”
Juventus also confirmed that Igor Tudor has been appointed as the new head coach. The former Juventus player and assistant coach will begin his duties on Monday, March 24, when he leads his first training session with the squad.
Motta’s departure comes after a difficult period for the club. The team struggled to find consistent form, suffering a string of disappointing results, including a heavy 4-0 home defeat to Atalanta. This loss was Juventus’ worst home defeat since 1967 and played a major role in the club’s decision to make a managerial change.
Currently sitting fifth in the Serie A standings, Juventus is at risk of missing out on next season’s UEFA Champions League. The club’s management hopes that Tudor’s appointment will bring stability and improve performances in the crucial final months of the season.
Tudor is no stranger to Juventus, having previously played for the club and later served as an assistant coach. He has also gained managerial experience with clubs like Marseille and Lazio. His immediate task will be to guide the team back into the top four and secure a Champions League spot.
