Kaduna Police Launches Investigation Into Assassination Attempt on Senator

The Kaduna State Police Command has initiated a comprehensive investigation following claims of an attempted assassination on Senator Usman Lawal, representing Kaduna Central under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

This directive was announced by the state’s Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, in response to reports shared by the senator on social media.

In a statement released on Thursday by the Command’s spokesperson, Mansir Hassan, it was disclosed that the police were initially unaware of the alleged attack.

Hassan said, “The alleged assassination attempt on Senator Usman Lawal is unknown to the Police.

“The attention of the command has been drawn to a publication on the Facebook handle of Senator Lawal Usman.

”He claimed that he escaped an assassination attempt by some thugs in a yet-to-be-identified location in Kaduna North on Wednesday, and no time of the incident was given.

“Without mincing words, the command is yet to receive any formal complaint from the distinguished senator.

”This is aside from this astonishing publication on social media, and all efforts to contact him have proved abortive.”

He said that the commissioner of police has therefore ordered a full-scale investigation into the matter.

“The Kaduna State Police Command reiterates its commitment to providing adequate security for all and sundry within the state,” Hassan said.
