The Kano State Government has announced the Eid-el-Kabir holiday break for all primary and secondary schools within the state. The break is set to begin on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
The announcement came from the state Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Makoda, in a statement released on Sunday. The statement was signed by Mr. Balarabe Kiru, the Public Enlightenment Director at the Ministry of Education.
Dr. Makoda noted that boarding students will observe the holiday break from June 4 until June 15. Day students are expected to return to school on Monday, June 16, following the conclusion of the holiday period.
Parents and guardians of boarding students have been advised to pick up their children on the morning of June 4 to begin the holiday safely and comfortably.
The commissioner also confirmed that aside from this holiday break, the rest of the 2024/2025 academic calendar remains unchanged. This includes all previously scheduled official holidays.
In his statement, Dr. Makoda urged parents and guardians to ensure that their children return to school on time once the holiday ends to avoid any disruption to their academic progress.
He also expressed gratitude to the residents of Kano State for their continuous support toward the education sector. “We thank all residents for their ongoing support and wish all students a peaceful and joyful Eid celebration,” he said.
This holiday comes as part of the state’s effort to align school breaks with important cultural and religious celebrations, giving students the opportunity to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir with their families.
The Ministry of Education encourages all stakeholders to make the most of this break while ensuring students remain focused and ready to resume their studies promptly after the holiday.
