Kano Governor Orders Appointees to Declare Assets

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has directed all political appointees in his administration to declare their assets in line with the Code of Conduct Bureau’s regulations. The governor issued this directive during an Iftar gathering with Heads of Government Agencies and Special Advisers at the Government House in Kano on Thursday.

Yusuf noted that about 60 to 70 percent of the appointees had not yet fulfilled their obligation to declare their assets, urging them to do so immediately. He advised them to collect, complete, and submit the required forms to ensure compliance with the law.

The governor also spoke to the special advisers, stressing the importance of their role in governance. He reminded them that their primary duty is to provide guidance and submit reports on government policies and activities. He encouraged them to closely observe the administration’s affairs and offer honest advice, whether positive or negative, to help improve governance in the state.

In addition, Yusuf announced that 13 Hajj seats had been allocated to the Heads of Government Agencies as part of the government’s efforts to support officials participating in the annual pilgrimage.

Speaking on behalf of the appointees, Dr. Rahila Mukhtar, the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Contributory Health Care Management Agency (KCHIMA), expressed gratitude to the governor for his continuous support.

Meanwhile, the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Umar Ibrahim, reminded the appointees of their responsibility to serve with fairness and integrity. He urged them to stay committed to the governor’s mission, which aims to bring development and improve the standard of living for Kano residents.
