Kwankwaso, Donald Duke Visit Obasanjo for Talks on Nigeria’s Future

Former New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, recently held a significant meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The meeting, which took place at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), also included Donald Duke, the former governor of Cross River State.

Kwankwaso shared details of the visit on his X (formerly Twitter) account, describing the discussions as centered on key national issues. “Deliberations on significant national issues, including the future of politics and governance in Nigeria defined the conversation,” he stated.

According to Kwankwaso, the visit was an opportunity to pay respect to Obasanjo, who has remained a strong voice in Nigerian politics. He expressed gratitude for Obasanjo’s “warm support and hospitality,” and noted that the discussions reflected on strategies for addressing the challenges facing the nation.

The meeting highlighted Kwankwaso’s ongoing efforts to maintain relationships with influential political figures. It follows Obasanjo’s appearance at Kwankwaso’s daughter’s wedding in Kano last November, where the former president donned a red cap symbolizing the Kwankwasiyya movement.
