La Liga, Spanish Federation Reject Barcelona’s Bid to Re-Register Olmo and Pau Víctor

Barcelona’s attempts to secure the registration of playmaker Dani Olmo and young forward Pau Víctor have hit another roadblock.

On Saturday, La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) denied the club’s latest bid to re-register the two players, leaving their futures with the Catalan giants in limbo.

The situation stems from administrative and financial challenges that have plagued Barcelona for months. Olmo, a key player, and Víctor, a rising star, are unable to remain on the official squad list beyond 2024 due to these complications.

Despite Barcelona’s efforts to resolve the issue, the two players were removed from La Liga’s roster on January 1 following court losses.

In an attempt to overcome these hurdles, Barcelona reportedly generated €100 million by selling VIP seats at their future Camp Nou stadium.

This move allowed the club to meet La Liga’s financial regulations, prompting the league to raise their squad budget cap on Friday.

However, the RFEF declined to approve the registrations, citing rules that prohibit a player whose license has been canceled from being re-registered with the same team during the same season.

Olmo’s long-term contract, which runs until 2030, includes a clause permitting his release if registration issues persist.
