Lagos GAC Receives Former PDP Governorship Candidate Jandor Into APC

The Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC) has officially welcomed Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, into the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking his return to the party after a notable stint with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The reception took place during a significant political meeting in Saudi Arabia, where Jandor joined GAC leaders as they observed the Umrah pilgrimage. The meeting included top Lagos APC stakeholders such as the Chairman of GAC, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, along with Chief Rabiu Oluwa, the APC apex leader in Badagry Division; Senator Ganiyu Solomon; and Senator Musiliu Obanikoro.

Jandor, who was the PDP’s governorship candidate in Lagos for the 2023 election, had defected back to APC earlier in March 2025. His spokesperson, Pastor Gbenga Ogunleye, released a statement on Thursday confirming that Jandor had been warmly received by the GAC leadership.

“In a significant show of unity and goodwill, Dr Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, Jandor, was warmly received by the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC) Chairman, Prince Tajudeen Olusi; Badagry Division Apex Leader of APC and fellow GAC member, Chief Rabiu Oluwa; Sen. Ganiu Olanrewaju Solomon; and Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro,” the statement read.

The gathering, held outside Nigeria’s borders, was described by Adediran as symbolic, showing a spirit of cooperation and collective responsibility within Lagos politics. “This encounter reflects a shared commitment to the progress and unity of Lagos State, underscoring the enduring values of collective responsibility and synergy in the furtherance of the vision of the ruling party,” he noted.

Jandor had previously been a member of APC and was once a governorship aspirant under the party. In 2021, he switched to PDP and became a major force within the Lagos4Lagos Movement. However, he announced his resignation from PDP on March 3, citing internal issues including what he described as betrayal and lack of discipline among party leaders.
