Lakurawa: Two Policemen Killed, Over 200 Cows Stolen in Attack on Kebbi Village

Gunmen believed to be members of the Lakurawa terrorist group launched a deadly attack in Natsini village, Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, late Thursday night. The incident, which occurred around 11 p.m., resulted in the death of two policemen and the theft of more than 200 cows.

Eyewitnesses reported that over 50 armed attackers, riding motorcycles, carried out the assault. The policemen were stationed at a checkpoint along the Augie/Kangiwa road when the heavily armed group overpowered them, leading to their tragic deaths.

Following the attack on the checkpoint, the assailants moved into the village and raided a ranch where the cows were kept.

Abubakar Augie, a resident of the area, confirmed the theft and identified the owner of the stolen cattle as a prominent civil servant named Lawali Black.

“The Lakurawa were more than 50 on motorcycles; after overpowering the few policemen at the checkpoint, they went to where the cows were kept in his ranch and went away with them,” he said.

Aliyu Gulma, the chairman of Argungu Local Government, also confirmed the incident. He disclosed that a security meeting was already underway, and the state government had instructed law enforcement to pursue the attackers and recover the stolen cattle.
