LG Election: Kaduna Govt Imposes Movement Restriction

The Kaduna State government has declared a restriction on movement across the state ahead of the upcoming local government elections. This restriction, which will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024, is aimed at ensuring a peaceful and orderly election process.

The announcement was made on Friday, October 18, 2024, by Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs.

The local government election is considered highly significant for the state’s development as it will determine the leadership in 255 wards and 23 local government councils. In light of the importance of the election, the state government has put various measures in place to maintain peace and security throughout the process.

Commissioner Aruwan emphasized that the restriction on movement is a proactive step to prevent any security threats or disruptions that could affect the election. He stated that the government is taking no chances and is committed to creating a safe environment for voters to participate in the election.

“The restriction of movement is aimed at preventing any individual or group from disrupting the electoral process. We want to ensure that the elections are conducted peacefully and without any incidents,” Aruwan said in the statement.
