Liverpool Fight Back to Extend Lead in Title Race

Liverpool came from behind to secure a 3-1 victory over Southampton at Anfield, moving 16 points clear at the top of the Premier League. Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez played key roles in the comeback as the Reds edged closer to their first league title since 2020.

Southampton stunned the home crowd just before halftime when Will Smallbone capitalized on a mix-up between Virgil van Dijk and Alisson to give the visitors the lead. However, Liverpool responded strongly after the break.

Nunez equalized in the 51st minute, finishing a cross from Luis Diaz. Minutes later, he won a penalty, which Salah converted to put Liverpool ahead. Salah sealed the victory with another spot-kick after a handball by Yukinari Sugawara.

With nine league games left, Liverpool remain favorites for the title. They now turn their focus to a Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain before the League Cup final against Newcastle.
