Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has approved new appointments for the governing councils of three tertiary institutions in the state. Among the notable appointees is the former Chief Executive Officer of First Bank Nigeria, Dr. Adesola Adeduntan.
The announcement was made through a statement issued in Ibadan by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju. The appointments were officially communicated in a letter signed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Segun Ogunwuyi.
The statement noted that Professor Ayodeji Omole has been reappointed as the Chairman of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Governing Council. Other members appointed to the council include Mrs. Titilayomi Ahmadu, Mr. Idowu Adeosun, Mr. Jelili Busari, and Dr. Teslim Adediran. Their appointments are set to take effect from April 1, 2025.
In addition, the governor approved the appointment of Dr. Adeduntan as the Chairman of the Governing Council of Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan. Other members of this council include former House of Assembly member Hon. Seyi Adisa, along with Prof. Samson Ojoawo, Dr. Aminat Ahmed, and Prof. Mojeed Akinsola. The tenure of this council begins immediately.
Similarly, Professor Kazeem Adekunle Adebiyi has been named the new Chairman of the Governing Council of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa. He will serve out the remaining tenure of the late former chairman, Professor Abiodun Adebowale Ojo. His appointment also takes effect immediately.
In another development, Governor Makinde has appointed nine part-time members to the Oyo State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board (Christian Wing). They will work alongside the board’s chairman, Bishop David Ademola Moradeyo. The new members are Pastor Biodun Popoola, Pastor Iyiola Israel, Rev. Mathew Ojo, Rev. Father Alabi, Mrs. Sarah Amuda, Bishop Ezekiel Adeleke, Rev. Dr. Mathew Oludare, Hon. Emmanuel Akanbi, and Mrs. Femi Odekunle.
