Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Monday, made major changes in the state’s administration with the disbandment of the Shooting Stars Sports Club board and the naming of new key officials into various positions.
The changes were made public through a statement issued in Ibadan by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju. The statement confirmed that Lekan Salami has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), following the dissolution of the previous board.
Also included in the governor’s new appointments is Mr. Adeyinka Adeniyi, who will now serve as the new Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor.
His appointment comes after the resignation of Fola Oyekunle, who stepped down to pursue a seat at the National Assembly. Oyekunle recently became the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the upcoming Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election scheduled to hold on August 16, 2025.
“A letter signed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Segun Ogunwuyi, Makinde also approved the dissolution of the board of the Shooting Stars Sports Club and the appointment of Lekan Salami as the new Chairman,” the statement read.
In addition, the governor approved the appointment of retired police officer Kabiru Salami as the Executive Assistant on Security Coordination. Mr. Waheed Adeniyi was also appointed to head the Oyo State Waste Management Authority as its new Chairman.
The governor, while addressing the development, noted that the appointments were a call to duty and urged the new appointees to serve the state with commitment and dedication.
“The appointments are with immediate effect,” the statement stated.
