Man Arrested for Stabbing Neighbor to Death Over Rice in Delta

The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Daniel Onyejekwe, for allegedly stabbing his neighbor, Christian, to death. The fatal altercation reportedly stemmed from an argument over shared rice in the Ogwanja area of Sapele, Delta State.

The dispute began along Boyo Road when rice was being distributed among residents. According to eyewitness accounts, a disagreement broke out between Onyejekwe and Christian during the sharing process. The argument quickly escalated, leading to a violent fight.

One eyewitness, speaking anonymously, told PUNCH, “Christian and Daniel started dragging the rice, and during the fight, Daniel picked a bottle and stabbed Christian multiple times. The vigilante rushed him to the hospital, but he was confirmed dead on arrival.”

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident and stated, “It is confirmed, and the suspect is in custody. The two were fighting and injured themselves badly. Unfortunately, one, Christian, died.”

The deceased’s body has been taken to a nearby mortuary as investigations into the incident continue. SP Edafe assured the public that the suspect will face legal action once the investigation is concluded.
