Marmoush’s Hat-Trick Propels Manchester City to 4-0 Victory Over Newcastle

Manchester City returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a dominant 4-0 victory over Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday. The star of the night was Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush, who netted a first-half hat-trick to mark his first goals for the club since his January arrival.

City entered the match looking to bounce back from a disappointing 3-2 loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League earlier in the week. With the second leg looming, Pep Guardiola made several changes to the starting lineup, including the introduction of Marmoush. The 26-year-old forward, who joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt in a £59 million move, wasted no time in making an impact.

Marmoush’s first goal came early in the match after a long ball from goalkeeper Ederson caught Newcastle’s defense off guard. Kieran Trippier misjudged the bounce, allowing Marmoush to lift the ball over Martin Dubravka and into the net. Five minutes later, City doubled their lead when Ilkay Gundogan played a pass into the box, and Marmoush calmly slotted it into the bottom corner after cutting inside.

The Egyptian completed his hat-trick in the 33rd minute thanks to a brilliant assist from Savinho, who dribbled past his marker and delivered a precise cross for Marmoush to tap in from close range. The visitors struggled to mount any serious threat, as City controlled possession and limited Newcastle’s attacking opportunities.

James McAtee came off the bench to seal the win in the 84th minute. The young midfielder reacted quickly to a flick-on from Erling Haaland and fired the ball past Dubravka, adding to Newcastle’s misery. However, City’s joy was slightly dampened in the closing moments when Haaland was forced off with a knee injury after receiving treatment on the pitch.

The result pushes Manchester City back into the Premier League’s top four, strengthening their position in the race for Champions League qualification. Meanwhile, Newcastle’s recent struggles continue, with Eddie Howe’s side slipping further away from the top four after suffering their third defeat in four league matches.
