Kylian Mbappé will not be part of Real Madrid’s squad for their Copa del Rey semi-final first-leg match against Real Sociedad on Wednesday. The French forward has been left out due to a dental issue, preventing him from training with the team ahead of the match.
Despite missing training, coach Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that Mbappé would still travel with the squad to San Sebastián. The 25-year-old has been Madrid’s top scorer this season, with 28 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions. His absence will be a major setback for the team as they look to gain an advantage in the semi-final.
Along with Mbappé, midfielder Fede Valverde and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois have also been omitted from the squad. Both players are recovering from minor fitness concerns. Courtois, who has been sidelined for most of the season due to injury, is still working towards a full recovery. Valverde, on the other hand, has been dealing with slight discomfort and will sit out as a precaution.
However, there is good news for Madrid, as England midfielder Jude Bellingham has returned to the squad. Bellingham missed Madrid’s last La Liga match against Girona due to suspension but is now available for selection. His presence in midfield will boost the team as they prepare to face a tough Real Sociedad side.
Meanwhile, in the other semi-final, Barcelona and Atlético Madrid played out an exciting 4-4 draw on Tuesday. The result leaves everything open for the second leg, with both teams having a strong chance of reaching the final.
