Liverpool’s star forward Mohamed Salah has voiced his frustration about the club’s lack of movement on extending his contract. Salah, who has been a key figure at Anfield since joining in 2017, hinted that his future with the club is uncertain as his current deal runs out at the end of the 2024/25 season.
The 32-year-old forward, who has netted 12 goals in all competitions this season, showed his immense value once again by scoring twice in Liverpool’s recent 3-2 victory over Southampton. The win strengthened Liverpool’s lead at the top of the Premier League table. However, Salah’s post-match remarks left fans questioning his future at the club.
Speaking to reporters, Salah admitted, “We are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club. I’m probably more out than in.” He added, “You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands.”
Salah’s contract situation is part of a larger issue at Liverpool, as other key players, including Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, are also approaching the final six months of their deals. If agreements are not reached soon, all three players will be free to negotiate with foreign clubs starting in January.
When asked if he was disappointed by the lack of an offer, Salah confirmed, “Of course, yeah. I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end it is not in my hands or the fans’ hands. Let’s wait and see.”
Despite the uncertainty, Salah remains focused on the season ahead. “I’m not going to retire soon so I’m just playing, focusing on the season and I’m trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I’m disappointed but we will see,” he said.
Salah’s contributions to Liverpool over the years have been instrumental, helping the team secure both Premier League and Champions League titles. However, as contract talks remain stalled, the possibility of his departure looms, raising concerns among fans and pundits alike.
