Operatives of the Nigeria Police have arrested the younger brother of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. The arrest took place on the premises of the Magistrates’ Court in Ogba, Lagos State, where the deceased singer’s brother, Adura, and his friend, Ibrahim Koleosho, also known as King White, had attended a legal proceeding.
Sources revealed that Adura was taken into custody on Wednesday shortly after the court session, which was related to a case involving a mobile phone he sold to one Damola Ayinde. The details surrounding the arrest remain unclear, but witnesses stated that the police moved swiftly, taking both men away from the courthouse.
The case involving Adura has been ongoing for months. In December 2024, actor Yomi Fabiyi filed a petition, alleging that Adura had contacted him via Instagram, claiming to possess video evidence related to Mohbad’s death. According to Fabiyi’s petition, Adura allegedly requested a sum of N3 million in Bitcoin in exchange for the evidence. However, Adura denied these allegations, stating that the messages were sent from Ayinde, the individual who had purchased his phone.
The matter has since undergone forensic investigation, with the court still examining the case.
Following Adura’s arrest, Mohbad’s mother, Abosede, appeared in a viral video, visibly distressed and pleading for help. In the video, she accused Fabiyi and another individual, Sam Jojo, of orchestrating her son’s detention. Speaking in Yoruba, she cried, “Please help me, Nigerians. Yomi Fabiyi and Sam Jojo have taken my son. I don’t know where they are taking him to. He asked them to take my son away. My son did nothing to them. They must not lay a hand on him, he is sick. Demola, you’ve put me in trouble. Mohbad’s spirit will fight you.”
Adura has previously taken legal action against Fabiyi, Ayinde, and others, accusing them of hacking his TikTok account and damaging his reputation. In December, he demanded a public apology and filed a lawsuit seeking N1 billion in damages for defamation and tampering with evidence.
A family member, who requested anonymity, confirmed the arrest of Koleosho but was unsure of Adura’s exact location. “We don’t know the whereabouts of Adura, but I can confirm that his friend, Koleosho, was arrested after the court proceedings today. Everything just happened suddenly. We learned that there has been some exchange of words between Koleosho and Fabiyi over the issue relating to the phone, and this may have led to the arrest. We don’t know where the security men came from, but we have been trying to locate their whereabouts,” the source said.
Efforts to contact Fabiyi for comments were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls or messages at the time of reporting.
A police source revealed that the arrests were carried out by officers from the Zone 2 Police Command in Onikan, not the Lagos State Command. However, when asked about the reason for the arrests, the source directed inquiries to the zonal police spokesperson, Ayuba Umma.
