Mohbad’s Family Seek More Witnesses for Investigation into His Death

The family of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has called for more witnesses to come forward with information that could help clarify the circumstances surrounding his death.

Mohbad, who passed away at the young age of 27 on September 12, 2023, left behind a mystery that has triggered wide speculation and controversy across social media.

In a statement issued by the family’s legal representative, Taiwo Odumosu, the family expressed concerns about the sensitive information regarding Mohbad’s death being shared publicly.

Odumosu emphasized that such details should be handed over to law enforcement authorities to assist in the investigation, rather than being spread in the public domain.

“Given the nature of the death of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (Mohbad), and the information being released to the public space which ordinarily should have been given to the police, the Legal Team to the Aloba Family wishes to advise that anyone with useful and relevant information that could aid in the search for and the circumstances leading to the death of the singer should reach out to the Legal Team to facilitate proper legal connectivity. The police can also be contacted to ensure the safety and protection of witnesses and suspects,” said Odumosu.

The family is appealing to the public for assistance in gathering facts as the coroner’s inquest continues. According to Odumosu, the inquest has issued witness summonses to aid in uncovering the truth behind Mohbad’s untimely passing.

Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, remains focused solely on discovering the cause of his son’s death and is not pursuing any personal or familial matters at this time.

Mohbad’s death, which occurred nearly a year after he left Marlian Music, the record label owned by Naira Marley, led to significant public outrage. The Lagos State Police Command responded by establishing a special 13-man team to investigate the case.

In connection with the investigation, several arrests have been made, including that of Naira Marley and controversial socialite Sam Larry. On September 21, 2023, Mohbad’s body was exhumed for an autopsy, a key step towards uncovering the truth of what led to his tragic death.
