Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has called on Daniel Bwala to seek forgiveness from Vice President Kashim Shettima. This follows Bwala’s recent appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications at the State House.
Daniel Bwala, once a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), resigned in protest against Tinubu’s decision to select Shettima as his running mate in the 2023 presidential election. Bwala had expressed his disapproval of the APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket and later became the spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s campaign during the election.
Reacting to Bwala’s new role, Ndume highlighted the importance of collaboration and reconciliation. He advised Bwala to mend his relationship with Shettima, saying, “Seek forgiveness from the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, whose appointment made you leave APC because he is a Muslim.”
Ndume further emphasized the need for Bwala to support the administration’s agenda, urging him to work closely with Shettima and contribute to President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope program. He also encouraged Bwala to emulate loyal supporters like Sunday Dare and Bayo Onanuga, who promote the President’s policies constructively.
Lauding Tinubu’s leadership, Ndume described the President’s decision to appoint Bwala as a demonstration of magnanimity. “This gesture deserves serious applause… a rare demonstration of large-heartedness in leadership,” he stated.
