Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has once again restated his administration’s unwavering dedication to the development and progress of Anambra State.
The governor made this known during a special thanksgiving service held at St. Jude Catholic Church, Fegge, Onitsha, in honour of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) National Chairman, Chief Sly Ezeokenwa.
The event, which took place on Sunday, was organized to celebrate the recent Supreme Court ruling delivered on November 27, 2024. The judgment put to rest the leadership crisis within the party by confirming Ezeokenwa as the lawful National Chairman, ending a prolonged dispute with Chief Edozie Njoku.
While addressing the congregation and party faithful, Governor Soludo noted the significance of the court’s decision. He thanked supporters of the party for standing firm during the legal struggle and acknowledged their resilience.
“This victory is a clear evidence that APGA was progressively formed in 2002 to provide good governance to the people of Anambra State and Nigerians at large,” Soludo said.
Reflecting on the legacy of the party, Soludo pointed out that Anambra has maintained a steady path of progress since the tenure of former governors Peter Obi and Willie Obiano, with his administration continuing on that foundation. He assured the people that the Supreme Court victory would strengthen his commitment to ensuring the welfare of citizens and accelerating development efforts across the state.
He also used the opportunity to urge residents to come out in large numbers on Thursday, May 8, to welcome President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is scheduled to visit Anambra for the commissioning of key infrastructure projects.
Chief Sly Ezeokenwa, in his remarks, expressed gratitude to the judiciary for their verdict and pledged that the party under his leadership would not disappoint the people of Anambra and the entire South-East region. He assured the public that APGA would work tirelessly to secure a full victory for Governor Soludo across all 362 wards in the upcoming November 8, 2025 governorship election.
Also speaking at the event was Chief Ebuka Onunkwo, a leading contender in the Anambra South Senatorial District bye-election. He described the Supreme Court’s decision as a positive milestone for democracy in Nigeria.
“This landmark decision is a testament to the judiciary’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice is served,” Onunkwo said. He promised to represent the people effectively if elected, aligning with Soludo’s vision for a peaceful and prosperous Anambra.
Dignitaries present included the state’s First Lady, Mrs. Nonye Soludo; former APGA Chairman, Chief Victor Oye; State Chairman Ifeatu Obi-Okoye; and other top government officials. Members of Soludo’s support groups also turned out in large numbers to celebrate the occasion.
