Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has alleged that a cyberattack on his NGO’s account resulted in the theft of ₦180 million.
Otse, a social media personality, shared the alarming news during an Instagram live session on Friday, where he detailed the unfolding situation.
“This has been one of the most difficult times for me,” Otse admitted. “Somebody hacked into the NGO website, and ₦180 million is missing. Thankfully, we’ve tracked the person, and one suspect has been arrested.”
According to Otse, the hackers drained ₦160 million from the account, leaving a balance of ₦20 million.
Authorities have since frozen the account, placing it under a Post No Debit (PND) status to prevent further transactions. The NGO team is reportedly working with law enforcement and plans to travel to Jos in a bid to recover the funds.
In an effort to safeguard the organization’s digital assets, the NGO’s app has been temporarily shut down for maintenance. Otse promised to keep the public updated on the recovery efforts.
The Martins Vincent Otse Initiative was launched in October and gained immense support, raising over ₦35 million within hours. It later received a significant boost when music producer Don Jazzy donated ₦100 million.
