NAF Dismantles Terrorists’ Supply Network in Borno Mountains

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), through its Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), has taken out a key terrorist logistics network hidden in the Mandara Mountains of Borno State.

This was made known by Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, in a statement issued on Monday. He noted that the area targeted was a stronghold for the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) faction of Boko Haram.

The location, according to Gabkwet, is a difficult mountainous region situated near Nigeria’s border with Cameroon. The terrain has long served as a hideout for terrorist fighters, and recent intelligence reports revealed that insurgents were using the area to build up supplies and shelter top commanders of the JAS group.

The air force explained that the mission was launched based on solid intelligence that confirmed the presence of senior terrorist figures in the region. The terrorists had fortified the area, turning it into a base for their operations, which included the storage of weapons, fuel, and other critical supplies.

In response to these findings, NAF deployed its aircraft in a number of precise air strikes. “NAF aircraft executed a series of well-coordinated air interdictions, targeting and destroying high-value terrorist infrastructure including logistics warehouses, command centres and defensive shelters,” the statement read.

The operation aimed to cripple the insurgents’ ability to plan, store, and move logistics around the region. According to the air force, this latest success is expected to significantly weaken the operational capacity of the Boko Haram faction operating in that part of the North-East.
