Nasarawa Court Remands Gospel Singer Over Murder Of Corps Member

A Nasarawa State High Court has ordered the remand of Timilehin Ajayi, an acclaimed gospel singer, who was allegedly caught with the severed head of Salome Adaidu, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The Nasarawa State Police Command, in a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) page on Friday, confirmed that Ajayi was brought before the court and is now in custody pending formal arraignment.

The brief statement read, “Timilehin Ajayi was charged to court today and remanded in prison custody pending his formal arraignment.”

The disturbing case first came to public attention earlier in the week when Ajayi was reportedly apprehended by members of a local church. Witnesses claimed the suspect was acting suspiciously near a river, prompting a church member to raise the alarm.

Upon investigating, they found a bag containing the severed head of Adaidu, which the suspect had allegedly thrown into the river.

Caleb Umaru, the Bible Study Teacher and General Secretary of the church, recounted the shocking discovery. “A member noticed Ajayi acting suspiciously near the river,” he said, adding that the congregation was horrified to learn what the bag contained.

Ajayi reportedly confessed to the gruesome act, claiming he killed Adaidu because she was unfaithful to him. However, the victim’s family has disputed this narrative. They insist Adaidu was never in a relationship with Ajayi and allege that she was kidnapped.
