NCAA Revokes Licenses of Two Private Jet Companies

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) announced on Friday the revocation of the operating licenses of two private jet companies, Eastwind Aviation Logistics Services Limited and Omni-Blu Aviation. The move comes as part of the NCAA’s ongoing efforts to improve safety and accountability in the country’s aviation sector.

In a statement posted on its official social media account, the NCAA explained that both companies had violated key regulations in Nigeria’s Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs).

Specifically, they were found to be in breach of Part 1.2.1.5, which deals with falsification, reproduction, or alteration of important documents such as applications, licenses, certificates, logbooks, reports, and records.

According to the NCAA, such fraudulent activities are deemed serious offenses and result in the revocation of air operator certificates.

The revoked certificates are as follows: OBA/AOC/12-15/002 for Omni-Blu Aviation and EAL/AOC/03-24/001 for Eastwind Aviation. These actions have raised concerns within the aviation industry, as the NCAA works to enforce stricter standards for both private and commercial aviation companies.

The revocation follows a troubling incident in October, when a helicopter operated by Eastwind Aviation crash-landed in the Atlantic Ocean. The aircraft was carrying eight people, with only one survivor. While the causes of the crash remain under investigation, the incident further heightened scrutiny over Eastwind Aviation’s operations and safety protocols.

In addition to this, the NCAA recently addressed the temporary suspension of Max Air’s operations. The airline grounded its flights for three months after one of its planes lost its landing gear tire while attempting to land at the Mallam Aminu International Airport in Kano.

Despite the alarming situation, Max Air assured the public that the event was properly handled, with all crew members and passengers safely evacuated from the aircraft. The NCAA has stated that this suspension will allow Max Air to evaluate and enhance its internal operations to avoid future accidents.
