NDLEA Relocates to New Headquarters in Abuja

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has officially moved its headquarters to a new facility in the Jahi area of Abuja, marking a significant step in the agency’s ongoing expansion and modernization. The event, held on Wednesday, featured an interdenominational service and a low-key commissioning ceremony.

NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), highlighted the importance of the relocation, explaining that it was necessary due to the agency’s growth and increasing responsibilities.

He stated, “I’m glad we have finally moved in to occupy this facility after initial budgetary constraints. Even though this is the first phase of the new headquarters project, we are hopeful that we will be able to complete the process with next year’s budget.”

The new headquarters is designed to bring together various directorates under one roof, enhancing operational efficiency and coordination. However, the former office in the Garki area of Abuja will continue to function as an annex.

Marwa expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his support, noting that the backing from the president and other stakeholders has been instrumental in enabling the agency to combat drug abuse and trafficking effectively.

Agency Secretary Shadrach Haruna also praised Marwa’s leadership, which has transformed the NDLEA into a more professional and capable organization. He pointed to key achievements since 2021, including an increase in staff strength from 5,000 to 15,000, timely promotions, and improvements in staff welfare.
