Aero Contractors, one of Nigeria’s oldest airlines, has announced a significant reduction in ticket prices for local flights during the holiday season. The airline has set its minimum fare at N80,000 across all its domestic routes to ease the financial burden on travelers.
The airline’s Managing Director, Ado Sanusi, made this known during a media briefing on Tuesday, describing the decision as a gesture of goodwill for Nigerians during the festive period. He emphasized that the reduced fares are aimed at helping families reunite for Christmas and New Year celebrations without straining their budgets.
Sanusi stated, “We understand the economic hardship Nigerians are facing, especially with high ticket prices, and we know the holiday season is nearby. In the spirit of Christmas, Aero Contractors has introduced what we call pocket-friendly Christmas prices. These fares, starting at N80,000, will apply to all our destinations, allowing Nigerians to travel without excessive costs.”
The initiative, which began in early December, is expected to continue through January 2024. While regular ticket prices for routes such as Lagos to Abuja were previously set at N99,643 for economy class and N189,167 for business class, the new fares offer a more affordable alternative.
Sanusi assured passengers that the airline’s profitability would not be compromised by the fare reduction. He highlighted that Aero Contractors had carefully assessed the current economic conditions to ensure the sustainability of the initiative.
“This is a way for us, as an organization with a long history of serving Nigerians, to give back to our loyal customers,” Sanusi explained. “We want to make it possible for families to meet their loved ones during this festive season without worrying about exorbitant travel costs.”
