The Nigeria Police Force has detained cryptocurrency billionaire Linus Williams, widely known as BLord, in Abuja on Tuesday. This arrest follows serious accusations of cryptocurrency fraud, funding terrorism, and supporting internet fraud through his various companies.
According to Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force spokesperson, Williams’ arrest came after numerous complaints were filed against his enterprises. Adejobi stressed the commitment of the police to thoroughly investigate these allegations.
“Yes, we have him with us. The FCID (NPF-NCCC) is currently investigating complaints lodged against Blord Group, Blord Real Estate Ltd, Blord Jetpaye Limited, and Billpoint Technology,” he stated.
The accusations against BLord include cryptocurrency fraud, aiding internet fraud, computer-related fraud, terrorism funding, and failing to adhere to regulatory standards. The police have assured the public of a diligent and thorough investigation, with a strong emphasis on ensuring the safety and security of Nigeria’s cyberspace.
“We will do due diligence in our investigation. Our cyberspace must be safe and secure by all means. We are committed to achieving that,” Adejobi added.
The arrest was not prompted by a petition from Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, as some rumors had suggested. Adejobi clarified that the complaints came from other sources.
