Leicester City’s midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, expressed his excitement about returning to the English Premier League after a successful season in the Championship. The Nigerian star, who spent the 2023/24 season helping the Foxes secure promotion, is eager to compete at the top level once again.
Ndidi left Leicester at the end of the last season as a free agent but decided to rejoin the club after signing a new three-year contract. This commitment sets him on course to complete a decade with Leicester City, where he has become a key player.
Throughout the transfer window, Ndidi attracted significant interest from top clubs, including Barcelona, Sevilla, Juventus, and Everton. Despite the offers, he chose to remain with Leicester, highlighting his loyalty and dedication to the club.
In the previous season, Ndidi’s performance was instrumental in Leicester’s success. He contributed four goals and five assists, maintaining an impressive 82% pass accuracy over 32 league matches. His efforts were crucial in Leicester’s triumphant return to the Premier League.
Reflecting on his return to the Premier League, Ndidi shared his enthusiasm in an interview with the club’s media team. “The things we don’t hope for, we’ll also try to do our best to go forward. I feel very, very excited. I feel happy to be a part of this and then I can’t wait to get started. It’s very exciting to be back in the Premier League,” he said.
Last season, Ndidi scored six goals, playing a pivotal role in Leicester’s Championship title win. Although known for his defensive skills, he is ready to adapt and play in any position required by the team. “For me, I’m really, really open to any position on the pitch,” Ndidi explained. “I just want to play football. It’s just exciting. I just want to play football, be myself, and with the help of my team – the players, the coaches, the staff – it’s just amazing.”
Ndidi’s passion for football and his willingness to support his team in various capacities shine through in his statements. “When you know you love what you do, it comes naturally. Scoring goals… You know, if you score a goal, you’re always happy, but if you don’t score, you have to help the team. For me, I’m just very open to helping the team, which I think is very good for me,” he added.
