No Explosion Incident in Ogun State – Police

The Ogun State Police Command has dismissed claims of an explosion in the Sabo area of Owode-Yewa, which had been circulating on various news platforms. The police have firmly stated that no such incident has occurred.

Omolola Odutola, the Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Police Command, addressed the allegations, confirming that the reports of an explosion in the area are unfounded. She mentioned that there had been no report of an explosion or any related event in the Sabo area of Owode-Yewa, where the incident was said to have taken place.

These claims arose after reports surfaced on Monday, suggesting that four people had lost their lives, and several others were injured, in an explosion triggered by a local scavenger. The man, identified as “BolaBola,” was allegedly dismantling a metal object when the explosion occurred. However, Odutola clarified that there were no such incidents in the area.

Additionally, the Divisional Police Officer in Owode Yewa supported the police spokesperson’s statement, confirming that no such explosion had been reported in the region. The police continue to monitor the situation to ensure the safety and security of the community.

While there has been confusion surrounding the incident, authorities have reassured the public that they are working to maintain order and prevent the spread of misinformation. The Ogun State Police Command urges citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.
