Obasanjo’s ADC, Major General Jemitola, Dies After Collapsing at Abuja Golf Course

Major General Christopher Jemitola, a former Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, has passed away. He reportedly collapsed on Thursday at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Sources close to the family confirmed the incident, but details regarding the cause of death have not been disclosed.

Jemitola had a distinguished military career, serving in various key positions before his retirement. He was the Commander of the Nigerian Army Signals Corps and later served as Nigeria’s Defence Adviser to Brazil. He also held the position of Director of Army Public Relations, where he played an important role in managing the military’s communication strategy.

Born in Ososo, a town in Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, Jemitola first gained national attention when he was appointed as Obasanjo’s ADC in 2003. At the time, he held the rank of Colonel and served in that capacity until 2007. His service in this role placed him in close proximity to one of Nigeria’s most influential leaders, providing him with valuable experience in both military and political affairs.

Following his time as ADC, he continued to rise through the ranks, eventually becoming the Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP) in the Nigerian Army. His work in this capacity involved shaping military policies and overseeing strategic planning for the nation’s defense.
