Delta North Senator, Ned Nwoko, has made it clear that the current governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, is not welcome to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This statement came during Nwoko’s visit to the national headquarters of the APC in Abuja on Wednesday, where he was officially welcomed into the party by the Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje-led National Working Committee (NWC).
During the visit, Nwoko confirmed the ongoing rumors that Governor Oborevwori might be considering a switch to the APC. However, he firmly stated that the governor’s membership in the party was not desired.
“My first concern in leaving PDP is to make sure that there is enough time for me to get some things done through the federal government,” Nwoko explained, referring to his reasons for leaving the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Nwoko expressed his frustration with the state of affairs in Delta, describing his position as almost like being in opposition despite being an influential figure in the state. He added, “I am tired of being in Delta and almost like in opposition. I tell them what to do, they don’t want to do it. I keep telling them.”
When asked about the rumors of Governor Oborevwori joining APC, Nwoko made it clear that he would not welcome the governor into the party.
“No. I will not welcome him. How? Why? I have just told you that he can’t be a governor where we are. He has not delivered to my expectations.
“We have projects that I told him that need to be done for the people, which he refused to do.”
While receiving Senator Ned Nwoko, Dr Ganduje urged him to work with other stakeholders in Delta State to deliver the state for APC in future elections.
