Okpebholo Suspends Edo Primary Healthcare Boss Over Alleged Financial Misconduct

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has taken action against the head of the state’s primary healthcare agency following serious claims of financial wrongdoing.

According to a statement released on Tuesday in Benin City by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, the Executive Secretary of the Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Caulson Osoikhia Oahimire, has been suspended from his position with immediate effect.

Governor Okpebholo’s decision follows accusations of significant financial and official misconduct reportedly committed by Dr Oahimire. While the exact nature of the allegations was not detailed in the statement, the government said a full investigation will be conducted.

“The Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has ordered the immediate suspension of the Executive Secretary, Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Caulson Osoikhia Oahimire over allegations of grave financial and official infractions.

“Consequently, most senior staff of the agency will act in functioning capacity pending the outcome of a special committee to be constituted by the government to investigate the various allegations,” the statement read.
