Governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came together on Tuesday to rally behind their candidate for the upcoming Ondo State governorship election.
This gathering, led by Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, signaled a commitment to ensuring that the PDP stands as a united force in the race, despite recent internal challenges.
Adeleke, who is also the Chairman of the Ondo State Governorship Campaign Council, addressed the crowd with a message of strength and solidarity. Speaking to party members and supporters, he stressed that the PDP remains firmly committed to its core values and the country’s constitution.
He reassured the audience that, despite the controversies surrounding the removal and reinstatement of national party officials, the PDP remains one family.
“We are one strong family,” Adeleke declared, emphasizing the need for unity within the party as they prepare for the election. He also encouraged the people of Ondo to support the PDP candidate, Agboola Ajayi, who he described as a beacon of hope for the future. He urged the citizens to cast their votes wisely, suggesting that Agboola would bring about much-needed development for the state.
“Go out and cast your votes for Agboola,” Adeleke said, reminding supporters that, “PDP remains the only alternative for a better today and tomorrow for Ondo people.”
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State also joined the rally to show his support. He echoed Adeleke’s message, calling for unity within the party and expressing confidence in the PDP’s ability to deliver good governance. He told the crowd that electing Agboola would bring about progress and development in Ondo State.
Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Senator Bala Muhammed, added to this, firmly dismissing any rumors of divisions within the party.
He stated clearly that the PDP is united, and recent events should not be seen as a sign of weakness but rather as a reflection of the party’s strength and commitment to democracy.
“There is no faction in the PDP. We are one,” Muhammed assured the crowd, reinforcing that the party is prepared to win the upcoming election.
Former Governor of Ebonyi State, Sam Egwu, urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure that the election is conducted in a free and fair manner. He highlighted the importance of a transparent electoral process, saying that democracy only thrives when the people’s will is respected.
