Ondo Deputy Speaker, Majority Leader Resign

The Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr. Abayomi Akinruntan, and the Majority Leader, Mr. Ogunmolasuyi, have resigned from their leadership positions.

Both men, who are members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), made their announcement on Tuesday during a plenary session led by the Speaker, Mr. Olamide Oladiji. Akinruntan represents Ilaje Constituency 1, while Ogunmolasuyi is the lawmaker for Owo Constituency 1.

During the session, Mr. Akinruntan explained that his decision to step down was due to political power-sharing arrangements within the state.

No further details were given about the specific nature of these arrangements, but his resignation marks a significant change in the Assembly’s leadership.

Following their departure, new appointments have been made to fill the vacancies. Mr. Ololade Gbegudu, who serves as the representative for Okitipupa Constituency 2, has been chosen as the new Deputy Speaker.

Meanwhile, Mr. Olatunji Oshati, from Ose State Constituency, has taken over the role of Majority Leader.
