Ondo Guber: Go To Court If You’re Not Satisfied, Tinubu Tells PDP, Others

President Bola Tinubu has called on political candidates who are dissatisfied with the results of the Ondo State governorship election to use the judicial system to seek resolution. Tinubu’s remarks followed the victory of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election.

In a statement, the President congratulated Aiyedatiwa for his success and commended the peaceful atmosphere that surrounded the entire election process. He also praised the candidates from all 17 political parties for their maturity and dedication during the election campaign, noting that the peaceful nature of the election was a reflection of the civility of the people in Ondo State.

Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, conveyed the message, urging political actors to maintain the same level of orderliness as the election transitions into its post-election phase. The statement highlighted that those who were not satisfied with the election results have the right to seek redress through legal means.

“Those dissatisfied with the outcome of the election can explore the opportunities provided by the judicial system to seek redress on areas of conflict,” the statement said.

President Tinubu also expressed his confidence in the performance of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stating that the commission had proven its ability to handle elections effectively. He acknowledged INEC’s early preparations, as well as its successful deployment of staff and election materials. He also praised INEC’s impressive achievement of uploading over 98 percent of the election results on the same day.

The President further thanked the Nigerian Police Force, National Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, the military, and other security agencies for their professionalism in ensuring that the election was peaceful and well-ordered.
