A joyous wedding celebration in Jigawa State’s Jahun Local Government Area turned into a tragedy when food served at the reception was allegedly poisoned by the bride.
The incident left one guest dead and the groom critically ill, casting a dark shadow over what should have been a happy occasion.
According to eyewitnesses, suspicions arose that the bride’s actions might have been driven by personal grievances. Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Shi’isu Adam, stated, “We received a report that the bride had tainted the food served at the wedding reception, leaving the groom critically ill.”
Two suspects, including the bride and another woman, are now in police custody. The Criminal Investigation Department is interrogating the pair to uncover the full details of the case.
Adam also disclosed that all other guests who consumed the poisoned meal had been treated and discharged from the hospital, except for one person who unfortunately passed away.
“The command is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, and we will provide more details as soon as possible,” Adam assured.
