Osimhen Set to Reject Chelsea For PSG

Victor Osimhen, the highly sought-after striker from Napoli, is reportedly ready to bypass a move to Chelsea and instead wait for a potential transfer to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). This latest development, as reported by PUNCH Sports Extra, signals a shift in Osimhen’s future, with PSG now preparing to make a decisive move for the Nigerian forward.

Chelsea have been pursuing Osimhen throughout the summer transfer window, hoping to secure his services. However, Napoli has been firm on their stance, demanding the full £113 million release clause for the 25-year-old. Despite Chelsea’s strong interest, Napoli’s terms have so far deterred the Blues.

Osimhen, who has emerged as one of Europe’s top strikers after notable performances with Napoli, has also been a target for other top clubs including Arsenal, Manchester United, and Liverpool. PSG, despite their interest, had previously been hesitant to meet Napoli’s high asking price and had seemingly been content with their existing forward options, Goncalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani.

However, the recent injury to Goncalo Ramos, who suffered a severe ankle sprain in PSG’s opening Ligue 1 match against Le Havre, has altered the situation. Ramos is expected to be out for approximately three months following surgery. This injury could prompt PSG to rekindle their interest in Osimhen, leading to potential negotiations before the transfer window closes.

Journalist Florian Plettenberg has indicated that Osimhen is now focused on joining PSG, despite Chelsea’s ongoing efforts and their proposed triple swap deal which might be in jeopardy due to this new twist.

Osimhen has been a standout performer for Napoli, with an impressive tally of 76 goals and 18 assists in 133 matches since joining the club in 2022. His future has been uncertain, particularly after reports emerged about his desire to leave Napoli this summer.
