This happened during a plenary session held on Tuesday, where members showed strong unity in backing the current administration.

Governor Adeleke, whose first term will end in November 2026, now has the Assembly’s approval to seek re-election. All 25 lawmakers present at the session, representing different constituencies, unanimously agreed to continue their support for the governor’s agenda.

The Osun Assembly is made up of 26 members, 25 of whom belong to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to a statement released by Olamide Tiamiyu, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Assembly, the lawmakers did not hesitate to express their approval of Adeleke’s performance so far.

“During a plenary session on Tuesday, the 26-member Assembly, comprised of 25 members from the Peoples Democratic Party and one from the All Progressives Congress, expressed their full support for the governor,” the statement read.

Speaker Adewale Egbedun noted Adeleke’s leadership style and achievements, adding that the governor has shown consistent dedication to the growth of Osun State. Egbedun also congratulated Adeleke on his 65th birthday, praising him for the positive changes made through his five-point agenda.

“Lawmakers, as representatives of the people, take pride in the governor’s leadership, and we urge him to continue striving for even greater accomplishments,” the speaker said.

In support, Hon. Simeone Popoola, who represents Boripe/Boluwaduro State Constituency, said, “Politics aside, Mr. Governor is a plain-minded personality, loving and genuine. These attributes have greatly assisted him in his performance.”

The vote of confidence motion was put forward by Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi of the Obokun State Constituency and seconded by Hon. Taofiq Olayiwola from Ede South. The final voice vote sealed the endorsement as lawmakers loudly responded with “Ayes,” showing their collective approval.
